I was SO very happy when I was asked by the maid of honor Katie this summer for the Oachs Wedding to also capture her special day in December. Not only was Katie one of the sweetest brides I've ever worked with she came with the handsome groom Chuck and the little ring bearer from the Oachs wedding was her beautiful son.
This wedding was in Elkton, Oregon at The Big K Ranch. Located on the Umpqua River this 2500 acre ranch was stunning to drive into to say the least! The ranch while a bit of a drive functions as a lodge and has 20 private cabins to stay which makes it a destination for not just weddings but for fishing, outdoor retreats and hunting.
The beautiful cake was created by the brides father. The brides stunning bouquet by Petal To The Metal Flowers in North Bend, Oregon had a special story to go with... I just love a bouquet with a story and history to go with it. This bouquet was a gorgeous and striking combination of Anemone and Amensia roses. It was wrapped with the brides grandmothers dress from over 60 years ago and a piece of her grandfather's shirt (who the bride never met). So in a sense they were all together again on this special day.
Katie and Chuck's wedding was during some of our worst Oregon storms of 2015. In fact the rivers were at flood stage and our way home was through a snowstorm that had hit shortly after. The Big K was wonderful in that it provided so much beautiful indoor space for the show to still go on. Magical twinkle lights floating in trees, beautiful dark blue night skies through large windows as a backdrop, Katie and Chuck joined hands surrounded by family and friends and said I Do.
